CANOLA

Canola is a type of edible oil that is claimed to promote good health. It holds the title of the highest producing oilseed crop. In 1995, a genetically modified version of the oil was introduced that was resistant to herbicide. The major canola growing states in Australia are New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. Canola is planted in April to June and is harvested in October to December. This crop was originally a trademark and the name was derived from Canadian Oil, Low Acid. Australia produces 1706 kilotonnes of canola each year.
