The School
Library
The School Library contains close to 20,000 items
covering curriculum and recreational needs including books, periodicals, games
and audio visual materials. It is staffed by a full-time teacher librarian and
part-time library aide, and is normally open before school, and lunch
time.
Apart from Education Department funding, many library items
are acquired with the assistance of the Parents &
Citizens Association (via activities such as book fairs and
book club). Many parents also assist in the library on a
volunteer basis and provide very welcome support.
Pupils are encouraged to borrow and change books regularly,
and parents are welcome to visit the library and assist
their children with their selections.
The teacher librarian conducts lessons in conjunction
with classroom teachers. The lessons form a part of the
total educational program. The library staff also assist
pupils with research activities, reader guidance and
recreational reading.
Parents are asked to make a contribution towards the cost
of replacing lost books. Please contact the library if you
have any concerns regarding lost books.
Murphy’s Laws on Lost Library Books
1. The books were never borrowed in the first place.
2. The books have always been returned.
3. Lost books are usually found under the bed or in the
cupboard.
4. Books that are returned to school don’t always
find their way to the library.
